UNESCO Club of Serres, is an NGO based in Serres-GREECE since 1996, encompassing the main UNESCO values in promoting non formal education, awareness-raising for social and environmental issues, encouraging active citizenship and social entrepreneurship.
It has three main functions: education, information and action.
It promotes elementary education, protects the environment, cultural heritage, awareness activities, promotion of EU identity, organization of seminars, youth exchanges, trainings.
In order to raise awareness of the values that UNESCO represents in local communities, our organization works to spread the organization's ideals and objectives throughout civil society.
In light of the growing role of civil society in public policy-making, the UNESCO Clubs movement plays a key role in educating citizens and contributing to dialogue between cultures and generations for sustainable development.
Since its establishment in 1996, Club UNESCO for Serres has participated in several European projects regarding youth work comprising exchanges, seminars and training and has a long experience in both holding and participating in workshops and trainings addressed to local people, youngsters, social workers, youth workers, educators.
- Implementation of educational activities on different topics in public schools of all levels through non-formal education - Development of volunteer network first in a local level through outdoors activities, sports and intercultural events 
- Creation series of workshops for the local community addressed to topics such as, inclusion, mental-health, culture, youth empowerment, diversity 
- Creation of manuals and educational materials that are addressed to young people and involve them during the process 
- Creation of awareness-raising activities targeted to students and young adults, focused on multiculturalism as well as the promotion of European identity and youth empowerment.

About Us

The Hellenic Foundation for Culture leads and coordinates the Greek National Network of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures. The network’s co-lead is the civil non-profit organization “United Societies of Balkans,” which works together with the Foundation to achieve the network’s objectives.
