It was in 1999 when a group of individuals, primarily friends with a strong desire for selfless action and contribution to their place, created the Cultural Association of Tyrnavos.
The aims of the Association (according to the statute) are:
1. The cultivation of cultural ideas and values of its members and the residents of the city
2. The discovery, collection and processing of folklore, historical and cultural elements for the preservation of cultural heritage and their promotion through intellectual, artistic and recreational events
3. The strengthening of relations between the members of the Association and the creation of mutual assistance and solidarity between them and the residents of the city
4. The preservation and protection of the natural environment as well as the efforts and actions for the implementation of public benefit actions for the members of the Association, the Authorities or any other competent body
5. The cooperation with the respective Municipal Authority of the city of Tyrnavos, with local associations and bodies, with corresponding associations and associations of other cities in the country as well as other countries
It includes two main sections (Dance and Choir) active members of which have been hundreds of our fellow citizens throughout the years. At the same time, five additional departments operate (or have operated from time to time) (Artistic, Cultural, Naturalistic, Excursion and Theatrical).
During its presence, the Association has organized a number of actions and events that make it a key pillar of cultural production for the region. Indicatively mentioned are the organization of two festivals on an annual basis (Dance and Choral), the organization of choral concerts and dance performances, the participation in a series of festivals in Greece and abroad, the participation in tree plantings and other actions of a naturalistic nature, the organization of excursions, the revival of local customs, the participation in voluntary blood donations, the presentation of theatrical performances (in the first years of activity), the awarding of members and other distinguished individuals as well as the organization of lectures
