Action Art is a non-governmental organization formed in Thessaloniki in 2009.
Member of :
-the European Fairy Tale Route-The Counscil of Europe -the Federation for European Storytelling - FEST Network -the Anna Lindh Foundation (an intergovernmental institution for the building of trust and mutual understanding between the people residing in the Mediterranean countries) -the Thess-diktio network (Network for volunteering, Thessaloniki).
It is a space of communication, of information and experience through the meeiting of people, cultures and the several forms of art, creative expression and education. It was formed by the necessity and the need for co-existence in a multicultural society of several cultural communities, groups, individuals., due to social and financial changes, as well as the ever increasing movement and displacement of peoples. Its vision is to spread, promote and safe keep the World Intangible Cultural Heritage, the cultural and artistic forms of creation. These are factors that determine the survival of the personal cultural heritage, the acceptance of cultural multiformity, the integration and the social coexistence, the participation in aspects of the public life and the formation of intercultural democratic societies.
Goals:
- The spread and the safe keeping of the oral tradition linked to the intangible cultural heritage.
-The promotion and the re-establishment of the social and pedagogical function of the storytelling art, of the oral literature, including the myths and legends, the epics, the songs and tales.
- The democratization of art and the encouragement of the young generations to participate in the several forms of art the artistic process and the cultural production.
- The awareness of the different, of the cultural multiiformity, of the benefits of volunteering and solidarity, as well as of the importance of actively participating in all the ways that help to maintain the values of the European Union. -The promotion of the non-typical and atypical learning, of the environmental and intercultural education through several forms of art.
- The growth of empowerment projects for parents and children, for vulnerable groups (minorities, immigrants, refugees, children of troubled families etc.) and programs of social integration.
-The collaboration between associations and NGOs in Greece, Europe, the Mediterranean area, the Balkans.
For the materialization of its projects, Action Art works with social and cultural organizations, groups, foundations in Greece and abroad, as well as with individuals. It also supports important initiatives and provides volunteering opportunities and programs
Some of its actions are the : 13th Intercultural Storytelling Festival of Thessaloniki. - 9th Multi-day Tribute to Storytelling in Samothrace. - Storytelling performances and multilingual storytelling performances with the participation of immigrants, students, refugees.-Storytelling performances with the participation of storytellers from Greece and abroad - TEducational, training programs of experiential seminars - workshops lasting two years, in person and online, for Education in the art of storytelling and artistic creation through various art forms. - Awareness, skills development and empowerment programs for schools. - Special training programs for the development of skills and provision of specialized knowledge for the organization's volunteers.
Action Art forms and launches actions addressed to children, youths, pupils and students, parents, foreigners, professionals in education, in mental health, in culture and social sciences, in people who love the arts and storytelling. The said actions are materialized by renown and experienced storytellers, artists, educators, teachers, scientists, researchers, natural storytellers from Greece and abroad, in collaborations with schools, libraries, cultural centres, museums, local communities, associations working for the benefit of vulnerable communities, volunteers through the ECS (European Solidarity Corps).
