The UNESCO Chair of “Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity” was established at the University of Macedonia in 2004 as a part of the UNITWIN programme. The Chair’s mission is to promote research, training, information and lifelong learning in the field of intercultural policy, the respect of individual or collective cultural identity and the respect of human rights and to ensure equal opportunities in order to achieve a harmonious coexistence of all within a state and among states. The Chair offers 3-month internships, publishes several books on Human Rights Protection, and organizes Summer Schools on Refugee Rights, honorary events dedicated to distinguished people of the Greek society, and many Conferences on Intercultural Dialogue, Cultural Heritage, Hate Speech, Human Rights and Diversity, as well as the role of Art and Culture in Intercultural Dialogue.

About Us

The Hellenic Foundation for Culture leads and coordinates the Greek National Network of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures. The network’s co-lead is the civil non-profit organization “United Societies of Balkans,” which works together with the Foundation to achieve the network’s objectives.
