Reading for Others is a Civil Non-Profit Organization (CNPO) founded in 2015 with a singular mission: to ensure equitable access to knowledge and learning for all—especially for individuals who are unable to read due to disability or illness.
We serve vulnerable populations—including blind individuals, the elderly, and patients—by providing access to books through the production of audiobooks and live or remote readings delivered by trained volunteers. At the same time, we engage the broader public, students, and professionals in awareness and education initiatives around accessibility and inclusion, helping shape a society that embraces diversity with respect and empathy.
Strategic Plan 2024–2026: Our Core Programs
As part of our current three-year Strategic Plan, we are implementing three flagship initiatives:
On-Demand Audiobook Production: We produce audiobooks tailored to the requests of blind and print-disabled users. To date, we have created over 180 titles, thanks to the generous support of institutions such as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Latsis Foundation, the Leventis Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, and others.
Therapeutic Readings for Seniors and Patients: Through bibliotherapy, we support the emotional and psychological well-being of elderly individuals and patients. Our volunteers receive specialized training to select appropriate content based on the cognitive, educational, and emotional profile of each beneficiary, and they conduct weekly visits to ensure continuity and care.
Educational and Awareness Programs: We deliver workshops and campaigns for students, professionals, and the general public, promoting inclusion and transforming societal attitudes toward disability.
Recognition and Support
Our organization has been widely acknowledged for its social impact and has earned the trust and backing of prominent institutions, as noted above.
