The Beehive Community is a cooperative of five members with the mission to help mainly young people self-improve, build on their social and emotional intelligence and experience the process of how personal change can lead to social change.
Through seminars, workshops, European Programs, festivals, and other events we support them to improve and develop key competencies like self and social awareness, empathy, effective communication, culture of care, resilience and active citizenship. That way we create safe, caring spaces to work on human rights, gender equality, youth empowerment, social solidarity economy, global and environmental justice, democracy and inclusive communities.
Our practices draw from non-formal education and experiential learning, art therapy, gaming, supporting young people, in developing self-awareness and using arts and playfulness to improve their soft, civic and social skills. The team brings backgrounds in sociology, marketing, business administration, psychology, graphic, web design and environmental studies.
The Beehive Community (Athens, Greece) created and fully supports its BeeYouth group that is going to organise and implement the festival. The Youth Empowerment Festival is about young people, organised with young people for young people. Our goal is to create a festival where we are going to bridge the gap between young people and older generations in an accessible, colourful space where all people no matter their situation or conditions (disabilities, sexual orientation, immigrants, refugees) will be able to participate, be empowered and have fun.
